Felix Reda is an expert on copyright and freedom of communication and launched the control © project at the GFF in 2020 with the support of the Shuttleworth Foundation. He graduated with a Master of Arts in Political Science and Journalism from the University of Mainz in 2014. In the same year, he was elected to the European Parliament, where he was Vice-Chairman of the Greens/EFA Group from 2014 to 2019. As an MEP, he founded the intergroup working group on digital policy Digital Agenda Intergroup and, as rapporteur, drafted the European Parliament's report on the evaluation of the EU Directive on Copyright in the Information Society (Reda Report). He also served as his group's shadow rapporteur for numerous digital policy reforms such as the EU Copyright Reform, the Digital Content Directive, the Trade Secrets Directive, the European Telecoms Code, and the Regulation on Promoting Fairness and Transparency for Commercial Users of Online Intermediary Services. In 2019, he spent a year in the U.S. as a fellow of the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at the Harvard University. Felix Reda is a board member of the Open Knowledge Foundation Germany and an advisory board member of D64 - Center for Digital Progress. He also regularly publishes on digital and legal policy issues, including in his column "Edit Policy" on heise online and as co-author of the Kluwer Copyright Blog. His columns appear under a CC-by license and are regularly republished on news portals such as netzpolitik.org.
