Why you should become a supporting member of the Society for Civil Rights (GFF).
  1. Your financial contribution helps defend fundamental and human rights. In doing so, you strengthen our democracy.
  2. The GFF's work has an impact. Our strategic lawsuits have already achieved important victories for freedom. To name just three of many:
    • We won a landmark ruling against the Federal Intelligence Service before the Federal Constitutional Court. It is no longer allowed to conduct mass surveillance of individuals. The work on the constitutional complaint was arduous and initially seemed almost impossible to accomplish – but thanks to our powerful team and our supporting members, we succeeded!
    • Together with a university lecturer, we successfully fought against the revocation of her teaching position at the North Rhine-Westphalia Police Academy. The lecturer had publicly expressed her concern about right-wing and racist forces within the police force.
    • An award-winning ZDF reporter is paid less than her male colleagues. We fought with her for equal pay and set milestones.
  3. Supporting members guarantee the GFF's independence. The GFF rejects governmental funding or sponsoring. Our work is primarily funded by supporting members, in addition to donations and grants, mainly from foundations.
  4. Supporting members enable long-term planning. Lawsuits often take many years and go through several instances. We can only take on the financial risks if our supporting members provide us with long-term financial support.
  5. Supporting members are particularly well informed. They receive up-to-date information about our work and court decisions.
  6. More supporting members means more power for the GFF. With your support, we can devote more resources to defending fundamental rights, including in new areas of work.
  7. The work of the GFF is recognized as non-profit. This means that your membership fee is tax-deductible as a donation.
