The Society for Civil Rights (Gesellschaft für Freiheitsrechte e.V.) has set itself the goal of ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are constantly striving to improve user-friendliness for all users and continuously apply the relevant standards for accessibility.

The Society for Civil Rights voluntarily issues this digital accessibility statement, which applies to the website www.freiheitsrechte.org and its mobile view.

Accessibility is based on the internationally valid Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) at conformity level AA and the European standard EN 301 549, version 3.1.1. For PDF documents, the international standard PDF/UA is also observed.

When was the accessibility statement created?

This statement was created and revised on December 23, 2022.

The technical accessibility review was carried out by:

  • Self-assessment: The website was evaluated internally within the organization.

How accessible is the website?

This website/application is only partially accessible. Only some of the requirements of BITV 2.0 are met.

Current accessibility standard of the website:

WCAG 2.1 Level AA

Areas of accessibility that need improvement

The areas listed below are not or only partially accessible for the following reasons:

  • Many of the embedded videos do not have subtitles.
  • Not all PDFs are accessible.
  • The alternative descriptions of the images are incomplete, meaning that the content of the image cannot be described in a way that is sufficiently understandable in audio form.

Disproportionate burden

  • Some areas are not designed to be accessible, as this would place a disproportionate burden on us:
  • In particular, many of our statements of claim are scans that cannot be read by a screen reader such as NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access).
  • Some of our publications are also far from being written in easy-to-read language and cannot be read by a screen reader.
