Nora Markard
Prof. Dr. Nora Markard, M.A. is a member of the Board of the GFF and Professor of Public International Law and International Human Rights Protection at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster. She studied law and international relations in Berlin, Paris and London and conducted research in New York and Michigan. Her research focuses on international law, constitutional law including comparative law, migration law, and legal gender studies. Her doctoral thesis on "War Refugees" was, among others, awarded the Humboldt Prize in 2012.
Practical relevance is an important component of her academic work: in 2010, for example, she founded the Humboldt Law Clinic Fundamental and Human Rights with Prof. Dr. Susanne Baer, LLM and the Australian human rights lawyer Jacqui Zalcberg, LLM. From 2015 to 2019, she directed the Refugee Law Clinic Hamburg, which trains students for volunteer refugee counseling. She is also an honorary member of the Foundation Advisory Board of the Federal Forum Law Foundation.
