Tips for our expert opinion on the AfD
Transmit tips digitally: SecureDrop
You can use GFF's SecureDrop mailbox to communicate with us in encrypted form and leave far fewer traces than with conventional digital communication channels such as email or messengers.
To access our SecureDrop mailbox, you need to use the Tor browser, which you can download here:
https://www.torproject.org/dow...
With Tor, your IP address cannot be traced when you access SecureDrop. Important: Install the Tor browser on a computer that only you have access to!
Once you have installed and started the Tor Browser, copy the following URL directly into the address field and call it up:
http://hdklp772af75lp2kgp2khilzfwqapcvyyc2p4dqgscaxbkgwtfbnz4yd.onion
Then follow the steps on the user interface of the mailbox to send us your information or documents.
The SecureDrop mailbox will assign you a code name. You will need it to be able to retrieve any feedback from us on your notes - this is the only way we can get in touch with you. Make sure you keep this code secret, otherwise third parties could potentially access your SecureDrop communication with us.
How we process your information:
SecureDrop encrypts the information and/or documents you have sent us. To decrypt them, we need to load the data onto a specially designated computer that is not connected to the Internet using a physical data carrier (e.g. a USB stick). Only there can we decrypt and view your information. We can then transfer the decrypted data to our database and use it to work on the report.
Within the GFF, only a very limited group of people have access to our SecureDrop mailbox.
How safe SecureDrop is:
Tips that you submit via SecureDrop are not assigned any metadata (such as your IP address) by the software that would allow conclusions to be drawn about the source. If the submitted information or documents themselves contain no reference to the source, the source remains anonymous. However, submitted files may still contain metadata (such as a timestamp or an author) even after submission to SecureDrop. If this is the case, we will remove the metadata after submission.
SecureDrop is significantly more secure than other ways of transmitting information digitally because it does not record any data other than the information itself and the time of transmission. The software is also regularly audited by renowned security experts. Nevertheless, even SecureDrop cannot offer whistleblowers complete security against detection.
The developers from the Freedom of the Press Foundation explain more about how SecureDrop works on the project page.
Encrypted Signal messenger:
You can also contact us via the secure messenger Signal.
Signal encrypts messages and also reduces the metadata to a minimum. Please use Signal on a private device. You can also set the communication to be deleted automatically after a certain period of time.
You can reach us via the Signal user name gffgutachten.23 or by clicking on this link.
